Splitpea is made by DYKOS Media Inc. This page says what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
What we hold
- Your account — your name, your email address, and the currency you prefer.
- Your expenses — descriptions, amounts, dates, categories, notes, who paid, who owes, and the groups they belong to.
- Receipt photographs you choose to scan, and the lines read from them.
- A location for a receipt, only when you press the button that asks for one. Splitpea never collects location in the background, and never while you are taking the photograph.
- Diagnostics — app version, a random per-install identifier, and notes about what the app was doing when something failed. Kept for fourteen days.
Where receipts are read
A receipt you scan is sent to our own server and read by a model running on hardware we own, in our own premises. It is not sent to a third-party AI service, and it is not used to train anything. The photograph stays attached to the expense so the people sharing that expense can see what it was.
Who can see what
The people in a group can see that group's expenses, the receipts attached to them, and any comments. Someone you split with one to one sees only what you share with them. Nobody else can see your data, and we do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to advertisers. There are no advertisers.
What leaves our servers
- Apple receives a notification token and the text of a notification, in order to deliver it to your phone.
- Email we send you — a sign-in code, for example — passes through our own mail server.
- Nothing else. There is no analytics service, no advertising network and no third-party tracking in Splitpea.
Getting your data out
Every expense you can see can be exported as a spreadsheet from within the app, at any time, with no limit and no charge.
Deleting things
You can delete an expense, leave a group, remove a receipt's location, or delete your account and everything attached to it, from within the app. Deleting your account removes your profile, your devices, your receipts and your diagnostics. Expenses you shared with other people remain visible to them, because those are their records too, but your account is gone from them.
If you would rather we did it, write to [email protected] and we will, within thirty days.
Children
Splitpea is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly hold their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will say so, rather than quietly updating a date at the top of a page nobody reads.
